I first heard this driving to work at about 4:30am yesterday and two things occured to me. The first was that this sounds like ‘Where Do You Go?’ by No Mercy. The second was “I bloody hope this is the new JLS single”. Sadly it’s not but at least it still sounds like one of the greatest songs of the nineties.
This song should ensure Taio maintains his track record of producing one hit per album, it’s catchy as hell.
A few months ago we posted the new single from Aqua ‘Back To The 80s’. It’s been a big hit in Europe over the summer and now it’s coming out in the UK. The single is due on 21st September with the Greatest Hits album to follow.
The whole world has gone mad today for the first proper single from Alexandra Burke. It’s called Bad Boys, features Flo Rida and is actually amazing. It’s got so many amazing elements I find it hard to describe it. The song basically says “I’m Alexandra Burke. I’m here. I’m not Leona fucking Lewis the second. Fuck you!“
Luckily someone taped it off’ve the radio, listen now but don’t steal it:
Popjustice describe Bad Boys as “THE OPPOSITE OF A BALLAD”.
We Are Pop Slags give it a luke warm reception, saying: “All in all it’s a good song, but it’s unlikely to take over the world like Leona’s ‘Bleeding Love’ did.”
Nick over on The Sound blog @ Digital Spy says: “it’s a stomping electro-R&B tune with a chorus that grabs you on first listen, beats fat enough to rattle windows, a generous smattering of siren effects, some catchy “ooh-way, ooh-wah” backing vocals and the best outro of any pop single this year.”
As we sit idly waiting for the new albums from two of the biggest divas of all time, Whitney and Mariah, news has just reached us of plans for Mariah’s ‘first’ official single from her new album ‘Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel’.
Are you ready for this???
It’s going to be a cover of ‘I Want To Know What Love Is’ originally performed by big haired 80s power ballad masters Foreigner. According to Roger Friedman (who I’m led to believe is an unofficial part of Mimi’s PR team) over at Showbiz 411, it will be a gospel tinged version.
So what about this, I hear you cry…
Well, apparently ‘Obsessed’ was just a summer treat and not the proper first single. I take that to mean ‘didn’t do very well so we are burying it’.
In all honesty, I think the big power ballad cover is a great move for Mariah. It will take over every single radio station and probably be a massive hit, setting the album up nicely for a bit of success.
Popjustice have alerted us to the fact that the amazing ‘Songs Remind Me Of You’ by Annie is OUT NOW on iTunes – so go and bloody buy it.
We have been quoted alongside the NME and Metro on Xenomania news giving love to Mini Viva.
In other news, I am watching 17 Again and drinking Kronenbourg. Like the percentage of alcohol in my beer, the percentage of shirtless Zac action in the film is insufficient.
We first told you about the amazing Erik Hassle back in April when he was in the UK doing some live shows and ‘Hurtful’ was doing the rounds. Well, now he’s properly here with his first official UK single ‘Don’t Bring Flowers’. Here’s the video:
Wow! That’s shockingly bad quality and a little bit out of sync but you should get the general idea and either way, it’s a prime oppourtunity to marvel at this boy’s hair.
In other BIG Erik Hassle news… ..he’s now started to Twitter in English – follow him and while you’re at it, follow me.
‘Don’t Bring Flowers’ is released on Sunday (23rd). There’s more on Erik’s official website.
This quite nice for a Tuesday morning:
An acoustic version of ‘On & On’ by Agnes there. You should be able to get hold of that from iTunes and the like when the single is released on 28th September.

OMFG it’s back! I actually can’t wait. The best bit of this minute long preview?
Louis: And what’s the name of the group?
Ugly Girls: Stunners.
Louis: Oh…
The X Factor is back on itv1 on Saturday 22nd August at 7pm.
One of the most successful horror franchises of all time is back for a fourth installment. The Final Destination is in cinemas on 28th August and this time it’s in 3D.
I am so excited to see this and I just can’t work out why. They have essentially made the same film four times now, but it doesn’t get any less entertaining. Deaths to look out for in this one include rock from lawnmower, car wash, collapsing escalator and bus (again).
